We are excited and grateful that you are considering the Summer 2021 trip to Reyonsa, Mexico, to work with Isaiah 55 ministries! This page will give you basic information about the trip to help facilitate your decision about the trip. When: July 17-23, 2021. Because of travel time, we plan to fly from Birmingham, Alabama to Harlingen, Texas on July 17 and return July 23. Exact departure and return times will be provided as the trip details are finalized.
Where: Reynosa, Mexico. The team will travel by flight to Harlingen, Texas and then by bus to Reynosa, Mexico.
What is Isaiah 55? Isaiah 55 Ministries works among the Deaf and marginalized to make disciples, encourage the worship of Jesus, and promote justice and reconciliation. The founders and directors of Isaiah 55 are Trinity Presbyterian Church members Kate and Nono Beale who have been in service in Mexico since 1999. https://www.isaiah55.org
What will we do? The trip will be a combination of construction and community outreach (e.g., children’s ministries, sports outreach).
Ages: Participants must be 8 years old to go on this trip. Children ages 8-13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parental or guardian permission is required for those under 18 years old.
Cost: The cost for the trip is $900 per youth/adult. Families of 4 or more will receive a 20% total discount. A $60 non-refundable deposit will be required at the time of application. Participants are responsible for the cost of the trip through their own funds and/or financial support from others. The full amount of the trip is required 6 weeks before the trip. Team leadership will provide training for fund raising.
Time commitment: In addition to the trip itself, team members will be expected six team meetings prior to the trip and one team meeting after the trip. These meetings are a vital part of the trip preparation and experience.
Deadlines: Registration for the trip is open from December 10, 2020 – March 22, 2021. Space is limited to 50 people on a first come first served basis.
